Marilyn Monroe (✝36) is still - even 50 years after her death from an overdose - an icon. This proves again and again: she is still a role model for many and people want to participate somehow in her too-short life. A single love letter from her was now converted over 63,000 euros under the hammer.

Proud 78.125 dollars brought the handwritten lines, which were sent to Monroe to the Hollywood Reporter. The sender: Joe DiMaggio. He wrote her a letter, after she announced that she will be divorced. An unknown now invested the enormous sum at auction in Beverly Hills. A further letter from Monroe to her third husband Arthur Miller was auctioned for 43.750 dollars.

The baseball player Joe DiMaggio was an icon of his sport in the 1940s and 1950s, in 1952 he met date at a blind Marilyn. Almost two years later the two married even, married life, however, was a constant ups and downs. Monroe filed for divorce after less than a year. Nevertheless, it was DiMaggio, who took care of her funeral and the grave concerns. It is considered as the love of his life.
